The wealth of modern Armenia
Many people know this phrase: "Armenia is a museum under the open sky". It is difficult not to agree with that. This corresponds to the reality. Such tourist attractions in Armenia like the architectural and historical monuments of different eras, from the primitive-communal system till the present are presented in the country today. Of course, to tell about all the monuments is really an impossible task as there are too many different places to visit, too many interesting sightseeing in Armenia.
The most bright and interesting tourist attractions in Armenia
Trip to Armenia is called a journey to the origins. The main places to visit are situated in the capital. We are talking about Yerevan. In this city, as well as in Kumayri, you can see a lot of ancient Armenian churches. It is no secret that Yerevan, being one of the oldest cities in the whole world, is a city in which you can see a lot of interesting architectural monuments and other sightseeing in Armenia. Many tourists are interested in the temple of Zvartnots, the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts - Matenadaran named after Mesrop Mashtots. Yerevan is famous for its gorgeous botanical garden and the zoo, the ruins of the roman fortress, the Turkish fortress of the XVI century and the mosque of the 18TH century. Hundreds of tourists tend to visit such places to visit like the church Zoravar (XVII- XVIII century.) and Ratogine (XIII century) and, of course, various museums (there are more then fifteen museums in Yerevan).
One of beautiful cities in Armenia is Echmiadzin - "the heart of Armenia", the real center of the Armenian gregorian church. There you can find a lot of tourist attractions in Armenia.
Garni - ancient settlement and a fortress in Armenia. Here is the temple of the sun god Mithra (I in.). Not far from this place а tourist can see the famous rock monastery Gekhard (XII-XIII centuries.). Ayrivank - cave monastery – is famous sightseeing in Armenia. It was founded in the IV century in the gorge r. Garni. Inside the fence cross-dome church of St. Astvatsatsin (1215 g.) is situated.
In thirty kilometers from Yerevan there is the town of Ashtarak. Here you can visit some of tourist attractions in Armenia, for example, Amberd fortress (X-XIII centuries.), an extinct volcano Aragats.
If we're talking about south-eastern sights of Armenia – Vayots-dzor and Zangezur, it should be noted that they are particularly beautiful. There are many valleys and plateaus, narrow gorges, rapid rivers, alpine pastures, small lakes and picturesque settlements.
Mountain rivers and lakes, spectacular canyons, the majestic cliff, as well as ancient castles, churches and other sightseeing in Armenia keep thousands and thousands of puzzles and stories. To visit those places, where the great civilizations were flourished, where cruel and bloody battle took place, where important world historical events happened - the dream of a modern traveler.
Nowhere in a world you can find more beautiful places to visit like mountains, more interesting history of ancient, thinner bread then in Armenia. "A tasty meat on the bones, the best land - on the rocks" – this the Armenians say about their own country.
